Feelin' lucky

This weekend has me feeling very fortunate. I'm lucky to know the people that I know and to have the support that I have. Drew's Crew is about to hit $10,000 online, which is well beyond where I expected to be at this time. It's especially surprising because the team is still forming and I haven't put a heavy emphasis on fundraising yet. It's really refreshing to see so many people standing behind me and my cause. Let's cure CF! http://www.cff.org/great_strides/drewdotson5267

Now, for the insane part... As I mentioned in yesterday's post, it was my friend BB's birthday. After I finished working my crew shift at the theatre, a group of us went out to celebrate. We went to a bar in Midtown and did some people watching and things of that nature. When we called it a night, my roommate and I got in my car so I could drive us home since I was the DD (double meaning!).

We were chatting and driving on 400 when I saw a car weaving in my rearview mirror. I was in the center lane of the three-lane highway. It looked like it was about to barrel into the back of my car, and it startled me to the point of yelling. Before I could even realize what was happening, I saw the headlights jerk to the left and I started to brake. The SUV then looked to have lost control and headed toward the cement wall that acts as a median. When the car was literally feet from crashing into the wall, the driver must have spun the wheel to the right, and the SUV crossed directly in front of us (perpendicular to the way of traffic). Thankfully, I was shocked into braking, but a car in the far right lane didn't see this happening and we watched the SUV barrel right into the driver's side door of a truck.

Debris went flying like rain onto our car, and both the truck and the SUV started spinning. I slammed on the brakes so hard that we started to fishtail and head straight for the cement wall/SUV that was bouncing off of the wall. How we made it between the two spinning cars without getting hit is beyond me. It was truly like our lives flashed before our eyes. Both scared speechless and shaking like crazy, I tried to make my way to the side of the road as AH called 911. As AH was fielding questions from the 911 dispatcher, I saw the SUV start to reverse (it ended up facing the wrong direction after bouncing off the wall and back toward the shoulder).

The SUV then started riding up the shoulder behind us and I was hopeful that they were turning around to move the car out of the way and wait for the cops. However, given my experience two months ago, I knew better than to trust that someone would do the right thing. I started yelling that the car was leaving and tried to remember how to put my car in drive. As the SUV went by, I yelled out the first three letters of the license plate, but we were both so shocked that neither of us were functioning to the best of our abilities. When I got the car going, I started trying to follow the SUV. The car got off at the first exit so I started to follow, but I'm positive that they could tell that's what I was doing. The person started (or continued) driving like a maniac. For example, we started to get in a left turn lane right behind them at a red light, and they instinctively got out of the turn lane so they could have a green light and cut across three more lanes of traffic to make a quick right-hand turn. At this point, we realized that catching them was hopeless (and probably dangerous), so we decided to head back down the highway to turn around and get back on heading toward the accident.

When we got back to the scene, people were standing outside of their cars and the truck looked even worse than I'd envisioned. There were items from the bed of the truck on the highway and the whole right side of the truck was practically touching the ground. The tailgate was on the other side of the totaled guard rail, and the metal sound barrier past the guard rail was torn up, too. I was relieved to see that the driver's door was opened and that everyone was standing. We then realized who the driver must have been because there was a lady who was clearly in shock and very emotional.

The cop finally arrived a few minutes after we made it back and, once again, I became the witness to a hit and run. The cop said I would be the primary witness since I was in the middle of it and had seen everything happen. He said that I could expect to hear from the detective regarding the case. I wonder if it will be my same detective friend; I'm quite the magnet! As the cop was getting my number, another group of witnesses started trying to make a love connection, but the cop wasn't having any of that.

I couldn't sleep when we finally got home (after 3:30 a.m.) because it was one of those moments that makes you think about how your life can change in a split second. As my roommate and I walked through the grocery store today, all we (mainly I) could talk about was how that could have played out differently. It's times like these when I think about some angels I know who are breathing easy and looking after me. It was such a frightening experience, and I really can't even put into words how grateful we both feel today.

It makes me think about life and, despite the health battles that I face, I'm not exempt from anything. That was one of the scariest things I've ever seen, and I'm amazed that we were so lucky. It's just a reminder that you can do everything right, but you can't control the crazy things that other people might do. There's obviously no need to live a life of fear, but there's a need to live a life that makes you proud.

Love you all.

Hola, hypocrite

So, this is a forewarning that I'm not in a very pleasant mood. It's really been a culmination of things that got me to this point, the biggest of those being hypocrisy.

To make a long story short, Saturday was not a good day. I was in my room getting ready to venture out of the house when I heard some weird noises. Knowing my roommate wasn't home, it caught my attention. I then heard loud noises again and realized they were coming from outside. I looked outside in time to see a U-Haul wedged against the cement column to which our exit gate is affixed. Well, I saw the truck try to break free, consequently uprooting the cement column and knocking the cast-iron gate loose only to be caught by my car. Hooray!

I threw on some clothes and went downstairs and outside to see that the gate had been lifted off my car. I was looking at my car to see if my window was cracked and if there was any other damage. Two of the three guys involved were trying to rub scratches off my car and I pulled out my phone. One guy was friendly and said he was calling the cops, so I started to look up the numbers to our property management company. Then, out of nowhere, the guys made a break for it and took off.

I stood there in disbelief for longer than I should have, hoping that they were simply moving the U-Haul and accompanying car out of the roadway. Buuuut they didn't return. So I called the cops and, although they tried to chase them, they couldn't find them. I then spent another 90 minutes dealing with the cops and filing the report, etc. We knocked on some doors to see if we could get any information, but the cop explained that it would be assigned to a hit-and-run detective who would call me and try to help find the perpetrators.

Now, because of someone else's irresponsibility, I've wasted several hours having to tell and retell the story to various parties, only to feel like nobody is all that concerned. It's just frustrating because people are acting like I'm being unreasonable and/or impatient when I can't even imagine how the tables would be turned if they were in my position. Not only am I frustrated by the inconvenience of it all, but it's kind of disheartening when someone does something like that to you personally. I feel like it isn't a priority to anybody except me, when I'm already the one who wasted most of my free time on the weekend dealing with it, has to listen to the screeching of the broken gate trying to close at all times, and was technically the 'victim' of the pending case. I just kind of wish people would take a moment to step back and try to empathize with how they might feel if the roles were reversed.

Enough of being on that pedestal, but it has been stressful.

Friday night I saw Peter Pan and it was pretty stinkin' cool. My weekend was practically nonstop, so I don't feel well-rested at all. I just feel so drained in every sense. I can't wait to leave town.

When I grow up...

I wanna be famous.

That's not me saying I want to be famous, but rather it's a tribute to dancing to Just Dance 2 on the Wii. My roommate and I have only played the game together twice, but we are getting better and better each time. There's a tribal dance that it's safe to say we DOMINATED.

I can't exactly remember the last time I wrote, but today was the fourth day of work being canceled due to the snow. Tomorrow work will resume, but not until noon. That being said, I likely won't go into the office unless the ice behind my car miraculously melts. I know that this weekend is supposed to bring warmer temps, so hopefully my car will be mobile sometime on Saturday! I've never experienced anything to this extent in my lifetime in Atlanta! We'll get some snow about once a year, but it never stays cold enough for all school districts to be canceled for an entire week. It's been frustrating at times, but kinda fun, too.

Today I ventured out for the first time since Sunday -- made a journey to Publix. Aside from almost busting it on the way to the car, the expedition was pretty painless. Then, though, on the way home, I guess someone had gotten in an accident because it took probably 30 minutes to go 1/8 of a mile. I looooooove traffic.

Well, I'll stop rambling and get to sleep. As you can probably tell, the apprentice show was canceled tonight. BUMMER! It would have been quite the battle trying to get down there, but this cabin fever would have made for something interesting!

I hope everyone is safe and warm.

GO FALCONS! if I don't write before Saturday night's playoff game.

Dinosaurs are my favorite

I have no idea why I am up late looking at dinosaurs online. I am thinking of purchasing a dinosaur t-shirt. Can you tell that maybe I've been removed from the real world for too long?

Well, I had a productive weekend! I ran four miles last night and four again tonight. I haven't done strenuous exercise in a while, so I am definitely feeling it. The fact that I don't believe in stretching also contributes to that, but I don't mind it; it's a constant reminder that I did something worthwhile. I might need to take tomorrow off of exercising if I'm walking like this...

Today my mom came out to see me and we ran some errands. I got a new pair of skinny jeans and some boots. We also got air in my tires and washed my car! Then we went to Starbucks and I got a vanilla latte. It felt like I hadn't been in forever!

Yesterday a longtime friend (SW) came to see me and we went out to lunch. We had such a great time catching up with each other and talking about all sorts of things. It's funny how I can still have so much in common with someone I met 15(ish) years ago. I loved our visit!

I guess I better try to make myself go to sleep.

Givin' Lip

Well, well, well... Where to even begin. I'd say Shoot the Hooch 2010 was a success if I've ever seen one. By the time we got to the end of the course, there were literally cops waiting for us. Now, I'm not a fan of law-breaking and what not, but I've got to admit that I am impressed we could cause so much uproar on a river that there would be cops awaiting our arrival on land. Perhaps this year's pirate theme was appropriate. There were 16 girls, and we sure caused a lot of chaos. I don't think it's smart to negotiate with a cop while wearing a shirt that says "Givin' Lip."

My uncle graciously picked my roommate and I up. However, in our post-Hooch stupor, I forgot that my house key was in my car at the put-in. So, we got home and had to sit outside while my uncle and cousin went to retrieve my car. We successfully made it into the house and were pretty useless for the rest of the night...until Burial 2010.

When my roommate went up to bed, she came down and told me that one of her hamsters had died. Between the way we were feeling and the way she was acting, I was laughing entirely too much about poor Goober. My roommate was talking to Goober's child saying, "Nothing to see here, Peanut, " and "Your mama's not doing so well, Peanut." What an end to our day!

Today I met a few Wolf Camera friends (DH and MS) at the Cheesecake Factory for lunch. I devoured a BLT Blue Cheese Burger and we all split a piece of Snickers cheesecake. It was so fun to catch up and talk about everything under the sun. I love lunches like that. It was the perfect start (and end!) to my Sunday afternoon.

The Braves scored lots o' runs today, so they're still carrying the NL East by five games. Ballllerrrrrr! All of those disappointing seasons feel well-worth it this year.

I guess I'm gonna go get all of my crazy bloodwork done tomorrow afternoon. I have a lunch meeting, but it should be a relatively calm day otherwise.

The return to normalcy

Boy, it hasn't been easy, but life is almost back to normal...

Thursday.

An indifferent day. I went to eat lunch with my former boss at Maddio's, which was a highlight of the day. I also picked up a few prescriptions from Target, which wasn't a highlight, but was necessary. Finally, I called the guy at the dealership to see if my car was ready and, DING-DING-DING, it was. I headed to the gas station to re-gas the rental car. I looked like a silly goose trying to figure out which side the gas thingy was on. Then, I ended up pumping gas twice because I had to turn the car on to see how I was looking fuel-wise without unnecessarily giving Enterprise free gas.

I got to Enterprise and my insurance company had canceled my rental car claim. SURPRISE! Another thing to resolve! Thankfully that fell to the hands of the Enterprise workers, and I got taken back to the dealership to get my car. They tried to run my debit card and, for some reason, it said a referral was needed for the purchase. We tried again and got the same message. I called Bank of America and I guess they were trying to protect me from identity theft, and I reassured that it was me making the charges. However, between the two pending charges at the gas station and the two $500 charges at the car place, I guess a hold was placed on my card. I didn't have my checkbook or any other form of payment, so I literally had to have my uncle come bail me out of the car place. I think that was the final complication until further notice.

Thursday night I went out to Cheesebuger in Paradise and Taco Mac. I had a swell time.

Friday.

Friday was largely uneventful. I worked from home (on my sister's borrowed laptop), and got a lot accomplished. Not a lot really happened until the point that I went to El Toro with my sister. I came home and watched the Braves beat the Mets (awww, YEAH!). Then, I made a split-second decision to go out for some drinks. I stayed up/out entirely too late, but I had a wonderful time. I am a sleepy thing.

Saturday.

Today is Saturday. I have done many things today, including getting my hair done and buying a new computer. I haven't taken the laptop out of the box yet, but all that matters is that it's my favorite color. I don't even care what it's capable of as long as it continues to be a beautiful aqua. I'm gonna open that bad boy after I get back from Starbucks.

Have a great night, world!

Balla

I am a balla in a Chevy Impala. Man, I am not a fan of driving a car that doesn't feel like mine.

Anyway, today was a really busy telecommuting today. There were tons of mass emails to send and those fools are all sent.

Now I'm returning this computer to my sister and heading down to rehearsal.

Hopefully I will be back on the blogging front soon. I know all of my fans are having withdrawals, but I need a new stinkin' computer and probably won't get to that until this weekend.

In summary

I'm tired and don't feel like saying a whole lot.

- The Braves just beat the Phillies in extra innings. MWAHAHAHA!
- My allergies have been acting up all day - in the form of sinus pressure and sneezes.
- I had Willy's steak nachos for lunch. DEEEELISH.
- I ellipticized at work this evening.
- My car goes into surgery tomorrow morning.
- My computer needs surgery, but my sister was so kind as to let me use her laptop so I can still telecommute tomorrow (and write this worthless post).
- Tomorrow is already WEDNESDAY, Y'ALL!
- Walk like an Egyptian. That has no meaning, but was stuck in my head.

Cherish the days.

Weight a second

Well, today was a fine day. I really didn't experience much pain at all since I kept myself medicated all day. I only got nauseous a few times and truly only felt some minor pain in my back. That pain was nothing compared to yesterday, though.

The weirdest part of all of this is that I am gaining tons of water weight. Since the stone is just before my bladder, everything isn't flowing through quite like normal. So, I literally weigh five pounds more today than I did a full day ago. Isn't that nutty? I feel like I'm pregnant with a Gatorade baby. It will be GREAT when this is over!

The Braves won today after being swept by the White Sox in a three-game series earlier this week. I was relieved to see that!

Today my mom helped me take my car to get an estimate since I am not really up for driving with these medications. It is truly going to be pretty cheap. I've just gotta work out the details surrounding getting to and from places while the car is getting perfected. I'm relieved that this isn't going to be THAT big of a deal.

As of right now, I plan to work at the theatre tomorrow. If tomorrow is anything like today was, I should be completely fine getting out of the house for a bit to work. I'm only on camera for both shows, so that sounds like it could be easy. My biggest concern is just the drowsiness. I seem to have made vast improvements on the pain front, but I don't want to be dozing during my crew shift. I guess I'll make the final decision tomorrow.

I need to go downstairs to get more Gatorade to add to the rest sitting inside my body waiting. This has to be causing hiccups somehow. I've had them about six times today.

Time for some sleep!

Mmmm, lame

I guess I should go ahead and let this cat out of the bag...

Today I had my first car accident. YAY! I have the spot closest to the exit gate at my condo complex. Soooo, at high-traffic times of day, it's always tricky trying to back out. Someone's often waiting for the gate to open, whipping around the corner in a hurry, etc. I was leaving for improv rehearsal tonight and saw a car come around the corner towards the gate. The car went through and I started to back out when another car came pulling around the corner and we collided. Given that I was backing out, it would seem to be my fault. We'll see what they say, but I don't think it's technically anyone's 'fault' since it was in a parking lot on private property.

There are a few things that make me sad about this experience:
1) I really wanted to be in tomorrow's show, but I'm not eligible anymore.
2) I am a perfectionist and am ashamed at the thought of a car accident.
3) With all of the financial shenanigans between Spirit and my laptop (have I mentioned that?), I just really don't want another thing to handle.
4) It makes me feel like a failure in some way.

I know I'm being entirely too hard on myself regarding a fender bender. I mean - I'm okay, there is minimal damage to my car, I have the means to pay for any deductible, etc. I keep reminding myself of something a wise person said: "That's why it's called an 'accident.'"

Tomorrow's a new day. There are much more important things in this world than worrying about something so silly. I just wish it was easier to convince myself of that. I know that I'll have to make phone calls tomorrow and don't want one other thing on my plate. None of us do, huh?

Sorry to be such a downer, but I feel like I just got home and have another ordeal to resolve. Isn't it ironic that I was just commenting about how everything seemed to be looking up? Blah. If I didn't say that life was good, I was definitely thinking it.

Anyway, forget about me. Please send any positive energy you can muster up to my friend KM.

I will guard and protect your heart

That title is from last night's episode of the Bachelorette. All of the girls (almost all!) at the beach house watched together last night while enjoying glasses of wine. We decided to use "rose," "weatherman," and "here for the right reason" as drinking keywords. It was a lot of fun. I think I need to apply to be on there. I would be so ruthless.

In breaking news, my roommate called last night to let me know that a large branch has fallen on my car. WOOOHOOO! She was unsure as to whether or not there was damage, but I guess there's nothing I can do about it now... kind of like the regrettable decision to book on Spirit.

The other night I played Apples to Apples for the first time. I always thought it sounded a little questionable, but it was so much fun! I can't explain it, but I promise that you'd have to be a real loser to not like it. Take that! I think we're going to play it tonight.

The weather in Florida is very, very hot. It's weird because the sunlight was so much more direct in the Dominican, but the breeze there was much stronger. I can hardly stand to be outside here. Plus, I'm not really in the mood to go in the water to get bitten by a shark. I'm not having the best luck lately. I did find my first shark's tooth yesterday, followed by five more.

My cousin Becca and I went for a run yesterday and it was 98 degrees outside. WOW! We ran about 1.5 miles because it was entirely too hot. I am glad to have gone out and gotten some exercise, though.

I wrote all of that early this morning and then got interrupted and didn't finish.

I had my first hint of good luck today! Some of the guys have been trying to catch fish, sharks, etc. I literally caught a fish in the ocean on my first cast. My total for the day was five fish. Everyone was pretty impressed and a little envious. My dad acted as my caddie. We might get up early and try to catch some sharks before sunrise. WATCH ME GO! All of my fish were pretty small (6-10 inches), but they were really cute. I am satisfied.

I guess we're about to start getting dinner in the works, so I'm outta here.

Foggy

Tonight's show was fun. It was a pretty quiet crowd, but I'm getting better at accepting the fact that a non-reactive crowd doesn't mean a displeased crowd. I had several friends and family members there, so that made me happy. I also had a surprise appearance by one of the CF doctors! One of my friends went to see him today (Hi E!) and I asked her to pass the info along to him. I didn't see him during the show, but was so excited when he was out in the cafe afterwards.

I was in the following games tonight: Emo Speed Date (changer), Buzzer Game Show (as Barbara Buchanan), Helping Hands Oscar (sitting on the lap), Foreign-Dubbed Soap Opera (as a translator), and Repeat Scene Musical Styles. I had a lot of fun with all of the games, even though my head was really foggy tonight. I think it was a combination of how lethargic I was all week, plus the prescription pain medicine. I have never found myself blanking as much as I did tonight, like completely forgetting what the last person just said, etc. I had this faint headache throughout the show - a dehydrated-like feeling. I'll say my biggest accomplishment for the night was Repeat Scene Musical Styles. I tend to lurk in the background in musical games because singing isn't my forte, but I really gave it my all tonight. We did R&B, Opera, and Rap. It was the perfect scene to end the night!

Right now I am in my childhood room.

OH! Before I forget... Yesterday I was at Starbucks and was talking to the worker as my drink was made. He commented on how nice the weather was, and I told him that it was beautiful and that I have bad allergies, so it would be a few weeks until I could actually go out and enjoy it. He was like, "I'm lucky I don't have that problem, but now I will just appreciate it more. I will breathe easy for you, my friend." Honestly it about stopped me dead in my tracks because of the words 'breathe easy.' Now, I realize they aren't the most uncommon words in the world, but I don't often hear them in reference to something other than CF. Two of my best friends have gotten those words tattooed on them in honor of me, so those words are really special to me. It was a really interesting word choice on his part and it made me shudder. In a good way.

Today I was thinking about how I really need to get back into an exercise routine. I know it's only been a few weeks and my slacking has been for mostly legitimate purposes, but I feel kind of useless lately. Not in an oh-how-depressing kind of way, but I just don't feel very strong lately. I just feel kind of 'there' and lacking some substance. I hope the way I'm describing this makes sense to someone somewhere.

Well, my car has a check-up in the morning, so I better get to sleep. I'll probably work on my laptop using wireless Internet at Nissan as it happens. This week has been weird since I haven't been at work, but I have gotten just as much accomplished telecommuting each day. So I am worn out.

Get outta my dreams

Well, good morning. Let us all give a moment of silence to the hour of sleep we lost last night. ARGH!

Mm, so I am writing because a particular dream has me feeling a little jarred this morning. You know when there are certain things in your waking life you really don't want to think about, and then they find a way of making you think about them anyway by subconsciously inserting themselves into your dreams? Yep, that's the story of my most recent dream.

This dream was honestly just weird. I basically dreamt that I got home and a lot of familiar people were in my house. I walked into the kitchen and the refrigerator was gone and there was some significant structural damage to the walls, but no parts of the fridge anywhere. I asked someone where the refrigerator went and the person explained to me that it exploded because of something involving pressure, jargon, blah blah blah. It was just odd because, even though the fridge had vanished into thin air, we were happy to see each other and it was kind of sweet for a short minute. The end.

Somehow in this same string of dreams, a colleague had been planning things on the wrong dates because she was looking at a calendar for 2011.

And, while I'm on the topic of dreams, let me mention the one from Thursday night, I believe. I had a dream that I traded my car in to get a beat up, old, red SUV, which would not have been a smart choice because I didn't get any money in return. Then, though, I was at my parents' house and noticed that someone had parked my car literally up against (side-by-side) another car, where there would probably be no way to move the car without damaging it much more. Somehow I go do something else and come back, find that the car is gone, and my mom tells me she's sorry, but the car was totaled and they did away with it. I was crying, talking about how I couldn't get anywhere, and my mom showed no remorse. I woke up as I was bawling, trying to figure out how I would get to work and improv without a car. Weird.

So, off of dreams and onto reality...

The Dark Cherry Mocha was a good choice. I won't act like it was the best thing I've ever had a taste of or anything, but it was good and fun. It was a nice change of pace with a fun kick to it. It must have helped me get through the night because I don't recall ever thinking about how tired I was.

I started losing my voice yesterday afternoon and, by nighttime, it was practically gone. I haven't spoken yet today to see if it's still messed up, but I just said 'hello' to myself and it's definitely not at its full potential. I also lost my voice on Wednesday, so I tried to look at my dorky pollen alerts to see if there was something in common that might have triggered it. Then I saw that I didn't get one on Wednesday because the pollen level wasn't high enough, so I got confused and gave up.

OH! Yesterday I went to the gym for the first time in a week after the allergy shenanigans. I ran two miles and then walked a third, which was pretty good. I didn't know how I'd handle it with the allergies, the antibiotic making me groggy, etc. But I trucked on through!

I better shut up and get dressed because I have a friend coming over at 12:30 p.m. Then, at 5:00 p.m. I am meeting another friend to discuss health history for a study she's doing. Here I come, Sunday!

Fwhew

What. A. Week.

Well, the latest news is that, when we lost Motorola and Zenith, we appear to have also lost the microwave. Now, I'm actually really angry about that. I'm hoping for a miracle, but it doesn't seem to be very promising. When I try to flip the switch that the microwave is on, there are significant sparks and zapping sounds. Then, the switch flips itself back the other way. This honestly just sounds dangerous. And so did the near electrocution.

Today they announced a recall on my car, so that's also very convenient. Supposedly there are two parts that need to be replaced so that I don't crash. I don't really understand it, but it sounded like it could get ugly.

Last night I went to the Braves game and it was so much fun. After seeing there was only a 10% chance of rain, I dressed in not-rain-appropriate clothing. It rained harder than I've seen in I don't know how long. I ended up having to buy a hoodie. I put it on in the store and walked up to the register and got scanned. The Braves beat the Mets (wooooohooooooo!), bringing me to 8-2 for the season. I'm pretty proud of myself. I am also going to the game tomorrow (against the Phillies), so I'm hoping for the best!

What else? Today I made my post-hospital return to Willy's, so that was pretty eventful. It was what I needed to get me through the day. Last night's game started at about 9:30 p.m., so I wasn't home until close to 1:00 a.m. I definitely drank a Red Bull at work today.

I better go get my silly laundry out of the silly washer. I am really social on Friday nights.

A Braaaaaaaaand Neeeeeeeeew Caaaaaaaaaaaaaar

Well, I officially got my brand new car today! It is just as beautiful as I imagined - maybe even more. Man, it's nice to feel like I've treated myself to something. I hardly ever buy things for myself.

Sometimes I am really thankful that I hate shopping. Shopping is an addiction for most girls, but it's a hassle for me. Occasionally, I feel like going out to get something new, but it's usually a seasonal escapade. Also, when I say 'something new,' I literally do mean one thing and at somewhere super-cheap. I can't remember the last time that I went and got multiple things for myself. I tend to spend money on necessities, such as food and gasoline. And candy.

I am feeling a lot better today. I have really, really stepped it up on my treatments to try to get better. I have been going above and beyond and doing more than is prescribed to me in order to try to kick this. I believe it's working, so I'm really excited! Too bad I don't make this extra effort all the time, but at least I have fun when I'm feeling well...

Time to get ready for bed like the grandma that I am. It is ridiculous that it's not even 9:30 p.m. and I am already in bed. Oh well! I am proud to be me!!!!

REBORN

Well, today I bought a new car. It is cute. I will make it look good. My mother said that I was a great negotiator - I am emotionless, shrewd and stoic. Heck yeah! These are all of the qualities I strive to achieve on a daily basis. Just kidding, but it helped in the car-buying arena. My mother said that people should take me with them to buy cars. Looking back on it, I am surprised at some of the things I said. I remember being like, "Look me in the eyes right now." It was quite emasculating and I enjoyed it.

I got my hair did today. It looks cute, like usual. I feel a lot cuter than I did yesterday. It's amazing how sometimes the littlest things make me feel so much better. Now, if I could just enjoy some time outside without choking on pollen and ending up in the ER. The warmer weather always gives me a boost of energy and motivation. It's so easy to get blaaaah in the winter.

I think maybe I should begin hibernating in the winter. I guess I do to an extent, but the winter months always drag for me. I did better this winter because I stayed pretty busy and had some exciting things going on, like a new house, new job, etc.

Speaking of those new things, I cannot believe my birthday is in a week. I am not a birthday person AT ALL, but this has been the longest year of my life. Seriously. I have lived three different places (apartment, Gran's house, my house). I have had three different jobs - (marketing assistant, marketing consultant, programs coordinator). I have had two different cars (old, new). There have been a TON OF CHANGES!

I am excited to use this next year of living to make more changes to my life now that I'm settled into a house, a job and a car. It's time to get a move on, children!
