That's all they really waaaaaaaant

It's Tuuuuueeeeeesday.

Well, I had my eye doctor appointment yesterday and it went pretty well. My prescription was unchanged from last year, so that's good news, even though it doesn't answer any headache questions. I did get scheduled for a visual field exam test and a follow-up appointment with the eye doctor, so we'll see if that provides any answers what-so-ever. Yesterday was really rough headache-wise, so I pretty much had to sleep for the entire afternoon.

I met up with a friend (AP) for dinner yesterday, too. We used to work together at Wolf Camera, so it was fun to catch up.

Today was surprisingly good, though! I got up and noticed my head wasn't hurting, so I went to the gym. I did about 30 minutes on the elliptical, and my head didn't bother me at all. AWESOME! The rest of the day was pretty much pain-free, so I'm knocking on wood here... I did get unusually tired today, so I did some napping.

Anything else? I met MV and her son for lunch at Chick-fil-A, so that was fun. He is almost a year old and is absolutely precious. I'm usually not a baby person, but he makes it easy to make an exception.

I've got kind of a long day tomorrow, so I better get a good night's sleep to make it through the day. I can't wait to sleep!!!

HUSTLAH

I'm a hustlah, y'all.

So, this morning I forgot to mention that I got up before dawn and worked out. Yeah, you heard it here. I ran on the treadmill and then hopped on the elliptical. I think that should be my order from now on because running on the treadmill really gets me going and then I can coast on the elliptical. It seemed more worthwhile, and I'm gauging that completely on the fact that I started sweating sooner and maintained it throughout the entire workout. Hot, I know. That's what I do.

The meeting at the hospital was pretty cool. It was neat to learn some of the inner workings, but it was also nice to give an objective, firsthand opinion. I feel like this is going to be a great experience. We're already en route to implementing an idea that I suggested today.

My boss is on vacation starting tomorrow through July 26. This means I am the boss of all communications at work. I am making that sound much more important than it is.

I accomplished a first today(ish). In a 24-hour period, I had Starbucks three times. So, last night I only had a hot chocolate because I was drinking it so late and didn't want to be up all night. Today I went to Starbucks at lunch to clear my head (bad mood) and got my White Chocolate Mocha latte and some fruit. They stamped that come-back-after-whatever-time-and-get-a-$2-grande-iced-drink thing on my receipt, and I was sold. I ended up going there for a little while between work and rehearsal, and enjoyed an iced Mocha latte. In both Starbucks sessions, I worked on some creative endeavors, so that was fun!

Rehearsal tonight was fun. We talked about/worked on a game I've never played and rarely seen - Jam Session. It's a musical game and we all know that singing is my expertise. Right, farmer? JERK. After the casting was announced for this week's show (the private event), there was a slight change in plans because the show was supposed to be mainstage. I was already calculating how I would efficiently utilize my time on Thursday night, but found out tonight that I'm going to be in the show anyway. So, although the groceries will have to wait, it will be fun. My mom will officially miss her first show tomorrow, but I know she'll be there in spirit! She would be there if it was allowed.

I have some exciting book-related things to do before I go to sleep! I realize it's already after midnight, but this is the kind of energy I had after I took that writing course at Emory. I'm all riled up! It should be okay if I stay up kind of late because I'm telecommuting tomorrow, so I can knock off the two hours it takes me to get ready and sit in traffic.

In summary

I'm tired and don't feel like saying a whole lot.

- The Braves just beat the Phillies in extra innings. MWAHAHAHA!
- My allergies have been acting up all day - in the form of sinus pressure and sneezes.
- I had Willy's steak nachos for lunch. DEEEELISH.
- I ellipticized at work this evening.
- My car goes into surgery tomorrow morning.
- My computer needs surgery, but my sister was so kind as to let me use her laptop so I can still telecommute tomorrow (and write this worthless post).
- Tomorrow is already WEDNESDAY, Y'ALL!
- Walk like an Egyptian. That has no meaning, but was stuck in my head.

Cherish the days.

Into the fog

What a day.

Well, I woke up feeling strange. I didn't make it to the gym this morning because it was really difficult to get out of bed. Something seemed off the entire morning. As I drove to work, I kept feeling like I had a meeting or something, but nothing came to mind. Then, right as I passed one building in particular, it hit me that I was supposed to be there. Oops. It was for a training and it completely escaped me. The weirdest part is that I had an urge to check my calendar last night because I felt like I was forgetting something, but I forced myself not to get on work email because I didn't want it to keep me up later than I already was. Well... lesson learned.

I had a 3:15 p.m. appointment with a colleague at Starbucks. Right as I turned at the intersection with Starbucks and glanced at the street sign, it hit me that I wasn't at the Starbucks listed on the Outlook appointment. Oops. I had just headed to a Starbucks without even thinking.

The weird thing is that both of those mistakes are so unlike me. I usually check and double-check things to avoid mistakes like that. It's odd, too, because my hands aren't typing what I'm thinking today.

Anyway, I finally made it to the appointment (LATE) and enjoyed that. It was probably the highlight of my day because we were talking about life. I also had my Iced White Chocolate Mocha Latte.

I got back to work and knocked a few things out, then hopped on the elliptical for 30 minutes. I was feeling okay as I was on the elliptical, but I started feeling really lightheaded when I finished. I don't know if I've ever had a hot flash, but it seemed like it could have been one. I got really flustered and felt like I was going to pass out. I left work as soon as possible to try to get to the grocery store because I felt like I couldn't get to food fast enough. I ended up getting some sushi and ate it on the way to rehearsal.

Rehearsal was odd because I was feeling really foggy-headed. I was feeling weak and slightly disoriented. I felt like I might tip over if I got up again. It was strange. I was also freezing, and I don't really think it was cold in there. My teeth were chattering the whole way home.

That brings me to here - bedtime. I hope I feel better and can make it to work tomorrow. If I didn't have a pretty important meeting tomorrow, I would have already warned my supervisor that I might not make it. I'm hoping I will just wake up feeling better. Maybe I'm on the real drug and it's jacking me up? Hope not. I mean, I hope I'm on the drug, but I hope it's not messing me up.

Bye bye bye

Well, well, well... It's almost Wednesday.

Today was an okay day. There's not a whole lot to say about it, but it was pretty okay. I got up at the crack of dawn to get to work early as planned. I arrived at work at about 10 after 7:00 a.m., which is even earlier than usual. Right as I got out of my car, it hit me that I might not be able to get into the building. I'd forgotten that I switched to a very small purse over the weekend because of the concert. I'd still been carrying that small purse because it only had necessities. However, I realized right as I got out of the car that I wouldn't have my access card which is a problem when you're the first person at work. So, I did a lap around the building hoping that maybe someone would show up or that maybe someone from facilities was inside. No luck. So instead I went to Starbucks and got my new favorite - Iced White Chocolate Mocha latte. It was the silver lining!

I had a meeting today to discuss my unpredictable workload, so hopefully something good comes of that. I also saw my boss and her brand new baby. He was extremely cute. He is a thin little guy and has a very expressive face. I also got to have a miniature heart-to-heart with her, which was good and bad. Ooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhh.

My friend KQ and I went to Willy's for lunch, which was awesome. I really enjoyed that. Food is so good when I'm feeling kind of rough emotionally. It was nice to get away and catch up with KQ for a bit... and talk about this upcoming weekend's adventures together, which include a wedding and Dierks Bentley.

I came home from work at the time I'd planned, even though I got into the building late. I just dodged the traffic and worked from home for the remainder of the time so that I could have my Tuesday night like usual...

I visited the gym again and got in a good workout. I did a combination of the treadmill and the elliptical. I also lifted some weights at home and I have a pretty good feeling I'll be sore tomorrow. I'm a little sore today, so that's good; that means PROGRESS! It really does feel great to exercise. I am so glad I'm making a conscious effort to get back on track with it. Now I've just gotta maintain and keep making it a priority.

Well, today I feel a bit better. My face has been feeling tired like it's something allergy-related. I'm not sure, though. I've been vesting like a champion in order to hopefully kick whatever it is that might be bringing me down. It definitely doesn't feel like I'm getting worse, so that's good.

I have my study appointment at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday. Did I mention that a journalist is coming to my appointment to photograph me? Barring that there aren't any issues with him being there, he's going to get some images of me in a clinical setting. I met him at the walk and he is a photojournalist. I'm probably more excited about that than I should be... narcissistic fibrosis. Bring on the vanilla!

Off to bed I go. I'm telecommuting tomorrow and hopefully finishing the ceiling fan project.

Tiiiiiiiiiiiiime

Good grief, where does the time go? I swear time is getting lesser and lesser by the day.

Yesterday I slept in until 11:00 a.m. Now, given the fact that I'm complaining about having no time, I realize that wasn't exactly an effective use of my Saturday morning. However, I wouldn't have felt compelled to sleep that late if I wasn't completely exhausted, so I'm just listening to my body. Then I headed over to the gym and exercised for a bit. I did 20 minutes on the elliptical and 12 on the treadmill. It was a good start to the day!

Then I hurriedly showered and got ready and met my friend DH for lunch. We were going to go to Hudson Grille, but apparently it closed or something, so we went to Taco Mac instead. Wooo! Aside from her coming to my improv show last Thursday, we hadn't really talked in YEARS, so that was a lot of fun. I love catching up with relatable people!

I then decided that I needed to go get groceries since it had been probably close to a month. I am really not good at fulfilling my basic needs when I have next to no free time. I realize that my basic needs should come first, but dang, it's tough. I just went into Target (the SUPER kind!) and got some stuff. I had a hard time because I wanted to get home quickly and dodge the rain, so I just arbitrarily grabbed healthyish stuff, plus a few things like shampoo, etc. Consider it true if it's written here - I really want to start eating healthier. Not for vanity's sake, but because I know I don't have good eating habits and I used to feel much more energized when I ate such a variety. Granted, at that time, my only concerns were being in high school and making smoothies, but I felt healthier nutrition-wise. So, that's a goal of mine.

I put groceries up, laid down for a bit, then realized it was time to head out to my crew shift at the theatre. I stopped by Starbucks at the way (See? Thinking I can drink my energy?) and got an iced vanilla latte. I got down to the theatre and trained a newby on suggestions and worked the camera during the show. The shows were a lot of fun to watch and, even though I was out late, I enjoyed myself!

Now I'm getting ready to go watch the kids perform at the theatre - well, the youths and teens. It should be a lot of fun. I'm getting lunch beforehand. YAY!

THIS POST WAS POINTLESS!

Go girl, it's your birthday

Well, what to say, what to say. I'm torn between what to say because I don't want to make it sound like my day was absolutely miserable. Buuuuuuut, I didn't have a very good day. I had a difficult time sleeping last night because my mind was going a million miles per hour. It's been a while since I've had a night like that, but it happened last night.

Since it was difficult for me to sleep, it was also tough to get up this morning, but I was set on getting to the gym. I ended up resetting my alarm a few times, and got up and did a quick 22-minute workout. I did about 4 1/2 minutes on the treadmill, but was having a hard time, so I got on the elliptical for 7 1/2. Then, I ran on the treadmill for 10 minutes to seal the deal. I'm not exactly sure why it was so difficult compared to last week, but maybe because I wasn't feeling well...

I went to Starbucks on the way to work and got an iced mocha latte. Then, when I got to work, one of my wonderful coworkers surprised me with a McDonald's Mocha Frappe or what not. So, by 11:00 a.m., I'd completed both of those drinks and was pretty rowdy and feeling decent, although coughy. Haha. Coffee. HAAAA! I didn't even mean to do that, but anyway...

My coworker and I went to my FAVORITE Mexican restuurant (Monterrey) for lunch, where I had two grilled steak quesadillas. It was so delicious, and she surprised me by treating me! It was so sweet. One of my coworkers had also brought cupcakes, so I was excited about that and brought some of them home.

After lunch I was just having a really hard time. I wasn't feeling very well and it was really bringing me down; I've had a lot weighing on my mind. I ended up having to duck out of work early because I was feeling pretty bad. I came home and things didn't improve much. Then, I headed to rehearsal still in a bit of a funk, but everyone was really sweet and tried to help me out of it.

I got a few really thoughtful gifts that I'm excited about and, even though I probably didn't show it tonight, I am so thankful to have my theatre friends.

So many people wished me a happy birthday and, although Drew's Crew didn't rake it in like I hoped we might, there's still time left. Even though I seemed like a hot mess for the majority of the day, I am so lucky to know so many great people. Now if only the Braves can pull out a win tonight; it's tied right now...

Well, I'm hoping for a great day tomorrow - for everyone. I'm sending positive thoughts all kinds of directions.

Givin' Lip

I'll go ahead and say that the title of this post has nothing to do with actually giving lip... I am wearing a shirt that someone gave me because it was too small, and it is a white tank top with the words "Givin' Lip" in pink writing. I actually kind of love it because it's worthless.

Well, I just got home from rehearsal. I guess you can't really call it rehearsal because we actually went hanging up posters around Midtown - at least that's the group my area tackled. [Side bar: I just noticed after posting that I said "group my area tackled" instead of "area my group tackled." I have been doing backwards things like this for a few days, so I'm leaving it as-is for a trip down memory lane.] It was a fun change of pace, but we walked around a lot and I'm feeling kinda worn out. I guess that's good since I should be heading to sleep soon!

Umm, Drew's Crew is at $9,602!!!!! I really, really hope to hit $10,000 by the week's end. Did I say that yesterday? Or say it in my mind? Either way, it's still the truth! I think I did say it. (Can you tell I'm delirious?)

What elsssssssse? I went to the fitness center for a little chunk during lunchtime today. I got in a pretty good workout. I ran for a little on the treadmill, then hopped on the elliptical, then did some sprints on the treadmill, and topped it off with walking at an incline. I didn't feel like I could exert myself in the way that I do when I'm feeling my best, but I was able to do moderately intense things for a decent length of time, so that was good!

I am kinda at a loss of things to say, which is surprising.

I better take advantage of this 'being tired' thing while it's still accurate.

Oh, my boss is going to have a baby any day now. I don't know why it is nerveracking for me! I'm not the one giving birth, but I am just anxiously waiting...in a neutral way. The actual due date is April 22, so I am trying to be prepared, but I don't think I will be. I will miss her while she's on maternity leave.

Okay. Done.

Good night, Monday

I am tired right now, but I figured I'd write in my delirium.

Improv was a lot of fun tonight. I actually felt 'on' for the first time in what seems like forever, although it doesn't help that I had a break with the holidays and what not. It's probably a good thing I'm feeling 'on' this week because I'm in the show on Thursday night. My first show as an apprentice....Woohoo! It's giving me something to look forward to in this week back to reality. I hope some people can come see my debut!

Tomorrow night I get to watch Georgia Tech play in the Orange Bowl from the comfort of my own home. I hope they win. I really want to wear my Georgia Tech hoodie to work tomorrow, but I don't know if I will since it's Tuesday, which means it's staff meeting day. If it weren't Tuesday, there's a 100 percent chance I would wear it, but it's the one day of the week that everyone sees me. Sooooo, perhaps I'll have to put it on at the end of the workday. Frankly I think people in behind-the-scenes positions (like myself) should be able to wear absolutely anything to work as long as it isn't vulgar. Wearing sweats to work would boost my morale.

Today I had Willy's, which was a good first lunch hour of 2010. Tomorrow I'm supposed to meet a friend who's in town for lunch. She's not in town for lunch, but I mean, I'm supposed to meet her for lunch. I hope it works out, even if we eat at an odd hour for the sake of coordinating our schedules.

I did the elliptical today at work. While I exercised, I read several pages of my book (the one written be me) and made notes on them for organizational purposes. I am reworking the silly out of that thing because the revelation I recently had changes so much about it...including the title. Am I being vague? Are you intrigued? Are you going to read it when it comes out?

It's definitely time to sleep. While it seems to be all that folks can talk about right now, it is extremely cold outside. It truly doesn't get much colder than this in Atlanta. Rumors are that it might snow on Thursday, but I'll believe it when I see it. I've never been a big snow person, but if it's going to be this cold, I prefer it yield some kind of result that couldn't happen otherwise. It makes shivering feel more worthwhile.

Why you so obsessed with me?

Gosh, I am so tired right now. I'm not even sure what I'm doing and why I'm not asleep. It feels like today should already be next Monday because this week has been so long.

Well, yesterday at work we had our holiday door decorating contest. Unfortunately, the person I planned to team up with was at a conference, so I gracefully bowed out. There was a Bah Humbug category, so maybe I'll win that. But probably not. BAH HUMBUG! I love stuff like that, but I also know how ridiculously competitive I get, so it's probably best that I didn't participate.

Last night we had our annual homeowners' meeting. Let's just say it was interesting... and I think I got some good character ideas for improv. I'm glad I went because I find stuff like that thoroughly amusing. I also wish I hadn't gone because it's time I'll never get back, but oh well. At least I know my dues are increasing since nobody will probably tell me.

Today was a pretty good day. I feel like I got a lot accomplished at work, but I can't even tell you what I meant by that because I'm not sure. I went to Starbucks during lunch and wrote/read some, so that was a nice use of time. I also got on the elliptical today before I headed home. I got in a pretty good workout, if I do say so myself. Then, I came home and wasted the night away. I ate a little bit and read some more. I just tried to straighten up my room a bit, but I got tired and started sitting in bed instead.

Tomorrow is our holiday party at work. It starts at noon and then we get to enjoy an early release, so it's going to be a short day. It's too bad I have kind of a lot of stuff to do, but I'll just take care of the rest of it from home after the party if need be. I'm excited to get to leave work early. Yeeeehaw!

I just wrote this entire thing and decided I didn't say anything worthwhile. Oh well. Sometimes I just don't have anything exciting to say... or I'm too tired to make it sound exciting. Night!

Umm..... What?

I can't even fathom that it's Wednesday night. My internet wasn't working the last few days, and I hadn't had the time to try to figure it out. However, it's amazing what unplugging a couple cords can do for you. Primarily if you plug them back in after you unplug them. So, I'm up and running again!

I have been at the theatre the last three days... I had my first apprentice rehearsal on Monday night, went to a graduation show last night, and had rehearsal again tonight. It has been a busy, but fun week. I can tell I am going to learn a lot and I'm going to learn it quickly.

I installed my cruise card on my dashboard today. I use the term 'installed' like it involved more than sticking a sticker on the windshield, but it seemed like a pretty big deal. I cruised right through the toll plaza today and felt so free. I felt kind of rebellious. I also thought everyone was probably looking at me as I cruised by, so I felt narcissistic. Not fumbling for 50 cents was such a relief. Sadly, I am being serious.

Yesterday at work, we volunteered at Project Open Hand packing meals for people who are homebound. My first task was scooping broccoli into plastic trays. My second task was putting grape juice boxes into the bags of meals. My third and final task was putting chocolate chip cookies into bags. It was so much fun! We were having such a good time listening to music and moving things down the assembly line. I kind of wish we went there every day.

What else?! I worked out before work yesterday, and I'd like to get in the habit of doing that since I'm going into work a little later so I don't have much time to kill between work and improv. I got a pretty killer workout in by getting up a simple 35 minutes early. It doesn't mean I'm going to do it tomorrow, but it felt very productive. I might try to hop on the elliptical at work tomorrow since I left my gym bag at my desk...

Well, I just got sleepy very suddenly, so I'm off to bed. Happy December!

Unpretty

I just heard "Unpretty" by TLC on Pandora. I've actually never paid attention to the lyrics before, but it has a somewhat respectable message. It also fits my mood lately; it's extremely difficult to feel attractive in the colder weather. I can't exactly explain why - maybe it's my feeling ghostly, maybe it's wearing the frumpy clothes, maybe it's just me going into my seasonal funk inspired by the colder weather.

I am doing my therapy vest right now. I'm actually pretty proud of myself because I've been doing it almost daily, which is an extreme improvement from 'rarely.' I plan on taking it with me to my parents' house, so I should receive some kind of "Most Improved" award for that.

Well, my new glasses are doing me justice. I meant to mention that I wore them out Friday night and this weirdo came up to me and made a comment. Now, it would be one thing to walk up to a girl and compliment her glasses, and take it from there. However, this guy walked up and started telling me how he had a thing for glasses, etc. Way to make a miserable first impression by coming off as a total creep. He also made some comments about kidnapping me, so we had a good laugh at that after I sent him packing.

Today I went to this pizza place near work with several of my 'colleagues.' I built my own pizza with blue cheese, grilled chicken, caramelized onions and buffalo sauce. It was incredible! I ate the entire thing.

Tomorrow after work I am headed hooooome home. To my hometown. I am dropping my car off at Nissan for its 6K mile check-up. How cute! I hope my mom will make me pancakes for dinner. I'm not even going to be able to start thinking about Thanksgiving until I have some pancakes. I haven't had pancakes since the last time I was running my mouth about them in here.

I got on the elliptical today at work for the first time in over a week. Call me outrageous, but I plan on hitting the gym before work tomorrow. I realize that will involve getting up at 5:00 a.m., but I also know that I won't be doing much of anything productive until further notice.

Considering my likelihood of getting up so early is diminishing as each minute ticks away, I better put an end to this to preserve as much hope as possible!
