Weeeeeeeeeee belong

I should probably be asleep right now, but I took about 2-3 hours of naps today, so I think it's fine that I'm up late (Yes, 10:30!).

Life has been crazy crazy crazy, but when isn't it? I don't even know where to start.

My sister's wedding is fast approaching. We've still got about seven weeks, I think, but the time has just flown by. Yesterday we went to her first dress fitting, and I spent the majority of the time fanning her because she was hot. She then stated, "I hope it cools down by May," which got a good laugh. I'm pretty sure it's going to be HOT outside by May, considering the thermometer has already hit 80 and it's March. That reminds me that I should probably check this week's weather; it's about time that it gets freakishly cold or blizzard-esque. Nevermind. It looks like tomorrow will bring a high of 80 again. I'm not complaining! Yet.

The CF walk is also fast approaching. I am a bit behind schedule on everything, but I'm going to kick it into gear this week. Hooray! I've had a handful of walkers sign up for my team so far, but I'm hoping to get some more! Just for recordkeeping purposes, my team is sitting pretty at $2,502 right now. My page can be viewed here: http://www.cff.org/great_strides/drew. Go Drew's Crew!

Things are going really well on the health front...knock on wood! I've been doing surprisingly well allergy-wise (I've attributed this to knock-off Zyrtec.), which is awesome...especially since Atlanta had a record-shattering pollen count of 9,000-something last week. The whole stomach fiasco is hopefully drawing to a close; today has been the best stomach day I've had in weeks. I had an endoscopy on March 12, and the doctor pretty much said my stomach was inflamed, but that he didn't see an ulcer. I had a good week or two, and then it really started bothering me again. Yesterday was a bad day, but today was a good day.

In case you were wondering, the mouse on my laptop quit working, so I busted out an old-school mouse that is attached to my laptop. Please don't lose any sleep over it.

I have been exercising, kids! It seems like lately I exercise in waves. I get in a good routine, and then I jack my back up or something along those lines. Then things get hectic for a bit, and I take some time off. Then I have another good week, and then I fall off the horse. (Is that a phrase?) Last week I decided I would keep track of the time I spent exercising, thinking that it would help hold me accountable. I knocked out a surprising 184 minutes of exercise, which makes me happy. I'm hoping to beat that this week. I'm already at 45!

A few things have happened recently that make me remember how precious life is. Someone recently gave a presentation at work, and she said, "When your head hits the pillow at night, you're the one who knows what you did that day." (I'm sure she said it more eloquently, but I didn't lose the message.) Anyway, I try to do the best I can every day, and, if I have a day that didn't quite measure up, I know that I don't need to dwell on it. Instead, I can use that as inspiration to do better the next day. Cherish the days!

Slacker

Hey! I've been a major slacker since...well...a while ago. My fancy phone has been the primary culprit considering I spend significantly less time on the Internet when I'm at home. I really only blog from home, and now there are days when I don't open my laptop at all. Enough of my making excuses, but I really do aspire (fun word!) to write in here more frequently. I enjoy it. It looks like I better download a Blogger app. Yep, I just said that.

So, I'm going to say random bullets about my cruise:
-The population was mainly comprised of senior citizens (love it!) and rednecks (amused by it!).
-It doesn't get much better than watching toothless karaoke.
-I held an alligator!
-Spinning out in a boat is an incredibly exhilarating feeling.
-Cottage cheese is good.
-Tanning on a beach and seeing snow in a 36-hour period isn't normal.
-Consider getting a second opinion when asking someone the time; the bus will leave without you.
-Hold onto your balloon hat when you go to the top of the boat, even when docked.
-Kayaking through mangroves is like something out of a movie.
-Cruises re-program how often you think you need to eat.

All in all, I had a blast on the cruise! I have one observation that I noticed on the last cruise, and then reconfirmed this cruise: Time seems like it's passing slowly for the first day or two -- like, you really think you have all the time in the world -- and then it just speeds up and you feel like it all happened in the blink of an eye. I need to go on a 4352342-day cruise next time.

This week was a pretty stressful one since it was mass email week AND I was already backlogged. I survived it, but it definitely wasn't easy. I performed on Thursday night, so that was fun. I played Conducted Rap, Sounds Like A Song, Foreign-Dubbed Soap Opera, Sit Stand Lean Oscar, Dating Game, and Musical Styles. It was a pretty big crowd for a Thursday night, so that was cool. Yippee!

Oh man! Guess what! One of my friends (MV) gave me a baseball "To Drew" from John Smoltz! I literally couldn't believe it. I am sooooo ready for the season to begin.

Well, I've been taking it easy this weekend. I was so delirious by yesterday evening that I was barely functioning. I seriously reached into the oven without a mitt on my hand. That's not a metaphor; that's the truth. Thankfully I caught myself before I grabbed the tray, but I think that speaks for itself. I'm hoping next week will be slightly more relaxed, but you never know!

It's time to read a little bit and sleep for another 10 or 12 hours. I started to feel like I could be getting sick, but I'm thinking it was just the stress from the workweek.

Happy weekend, all!

P.S. I won a trophy and medal on the cruise -- gotta keep representin' for the Dotson household. There was some kind of brain teaser trivia and I pretty much dominated. I guess that makes me a total nerd, but I have a trophy and medal to prove it.

The return to normalcy

Boy, it hasn't been easy, but life is almost back to normal...

Thursday.

An indifferent day. I went to eat lunch with my former boss at Maddio's, which was a highlight of the day. I also picked up a few prescriptions from Target, which wasn't a highlight, but was necessary. Finally, I called the guy at the dealership to see if my car was ready and, DING-DING-DING, it was. I headed to the gas station to re-gas the rental car. I looked like a silly goose trying to figure out which side the gas thingy was on. Then, I ended up pumping gas twice because I had to turn the car on to see how I was looking fuel-wise without unnecessarily giving Enterprise free gas.

I got to Enterprise and my insurance company had canceled my rental car claim. SURPRISE! Another thing to resolve! Thankfully that fell to the hands of the Enterprise workers, and I got taken back to the dealership to get my car. They tried to run my debit card and, for some reason, it said a referral was needed for the purchase. We tried again and got the same message. I called Bank of America and I guess they were trying to protect me from identity theft, and I reassured that it was me making the charges. However, between the two pending charges at the gas station and the two $500 charges at the car place, I guess a hold was placed on my card. I didn't have my checkbook or any other form of payment, so I literally had to have my uncle come bail me out of the car place. I think that was the final complication until further notice.

Thursday night I went out to Cheesebuger in Paradise and Taco Mac. I had a swell time.

Friday.

Friday was largely uneventful. I worked from home (on my sister's borrowed laptop), and got a lot accomplished. Not a lot really happened until the point that I went to El Toro with my sister. I came home and watched the Braves beat the Mets (awww, YEAH!). Then, I made a split-second decision to go out for some drinks. I stayed up/out entirely too late, but I had a wonderful time. I am a sleepy thing.

Saturday.

Today is Saturday. I have done many things today, including getting my hair done and buying a new computer. I haven't taken the laptop out of the box yet, but all that matters is that it's my favorite color. I don't even care what it's capable of as long as it continues to be a beautiful aqua. I'm gonna open that bad boy after I get back from Starbucks.

Have a great night, world!

Balla

I am a balla in a Chevy Impala. Man, I am not a fan of driving a car that doesn't feel like mine.

Anyway, today was a really busy telecommuting today. There were tons of mass emails to send and those fools are all sent.

Now I'm returning this computer to my sister and heading down to rehearsal.

Hopefully I will be back on the blogging front soon. I know all of my fans are having withdrawals, but I need a new stinkin' computer and probably won't get to that until this weekend.

Shake what yo' mama gave ya

I'm doing my vest right now. I've done it every day since I've been at my parents' house, so I'm pretty proud of myself. Granted, it would be extremely hard to make an excuse not to do it when I'm sitting around all day, but hey! I'm still pretty proud of myself.

Well, Thanksgiving was a grand success. I ate a small amount of turkey, but primarily overdosed on an unexpected surprise - macaroni and cheese! My brother's girlfriend made it and it was excellent. I also had some mashed potatoes and corn casserole. I mainly feasted on side items.

Last night I watched several episodes of The Office and I'm actually watching one the same episodes again right now. I am getting excited about the Georgia vs. Georgia Tech game tomorrow. I've been excited about it all season, and now it's just around the corner. Yeah buddy! I've watched more TV in the last few days than I typically do in a month. It's pretty fun; I can see why people do it!

I did not participate in the Black Friday ordeal and am proud to say I don't remember a time when I ever have. My mom went and bought a laptop early this morning, so I got to help her set it up while she acted helpless today (Hi Mom!). She is over there playing a game on it right now. She looks like she's having a real tough time.

Today I met one of my best childhood friends for lunch at O'Charley's. I enjoyed some sliders. They were pretty good! It was nice to get to catch up, even though it was for a short time. I hate having lost touch with some important people in my life, so it's always good when we get to spend some time together.

My new glasses are doing wonders for me, but I swear my vision without glasses is getting worse. I don't even know if that's possible, but I feel more dependent on them than ever before. Maybe I am noticing a greater disparity between when I wear them and when I don't because these correct astigmastm.

Well, I think I'm going to organize my book some. It's all over the place (figuratively).

Shake and bake

I am doing my therapy vest right now. I figured why the heck not. I am sitting around being extremely unproductive, so this cancels out some of that laziness. The vest is actually extremely easy to do. You put it on and it just shakes you; you truly don't have to do anything. I find it amazing that I can come up with an excuse for why I can't sit here and have a machine do all of the work.

Today my friend came over to work on her laptop while her apartment was flea-bombed. We worked and then went together to El Toro (aka heaven) for lunch. It was delicious and made me feel pretty good. Yummmmmy! It was spur-of-the-moment and it was really nice to have her company.

Tonight I will probably take it easy. It has been a long week and I feel extremely exhausted. That's surprising because I've had a very relaxing day, but maybe I relaxed myself into exhaustion. Even though I banned myself from reading until I finish writing my book, I might read some tonight. I may also try to write, but I just haven't had the right (write... HA!) inspiration today.

I'm thinking maybe I'll eat some Espresso Chip ice cream at some point tonight. I can't go wrong with that decision.

I've had a Spa Sydell gift certificate since January, and I'm considering using it for a massage tomorrow. I've never actually gotten a professional massage, and this just might be the perfect time to use it. I know it's about to get busy with the holidays around the corner, and I've got to use it by January. Maybe I'll call and make my appointment, although I'm slightly creeped out at the thought of being so... vulnerable. I need to make sure I get a woman.

Well, avid readers, have a nice Friday the 13th night.
