Horsing around

Happy Tuesday!

Well, I'll go ahead and get my venting out of the way first. Way back in March or maybe April, the ENT scheduled allergy testing for today. I had to discontinue some medications and what not for a week to prepare for the appointment. I took half of a day off work for the appointment. Per usual, I got my appointment reminder phone call on Friday. After riding MARTA down to the appointment, I walked in and the receptionist was like, "Oh, that appointment was rescheduled for Tuesday, June 28 at 9:00 a.m." I was like, "Umm, what?" She said, "Oh, the allergy nurse is on vacation this week." I'M GLAD I CAN READ MINDS. NOT. So, needless to say, I'm not a happy camper. High five on failing.

In other news, the Charley horses are running rampant (AKA galloping). I am literally on the verge of horsing at all times. The weirdest occurrences today were in my hands and in my chin. Yeah, for real. I have been feeling horse-free for the last couple of hours, so I'm hoping this spell is about over... I've never experienced anything like this.

What else? This morning, after I'd been at work for a few hours, I went to Kroger and got biscuits for me and KQ; I had a craving. I also had a major disappointment because I went to two different Krogers, and they didn't have sushi made yet. SIGH.

It's almost my mom's birthday. Happy birthday, cutie! I love you!

I've been pretty inspired to write lately. I haven't exactly pulled the trigger yet, but there is a lot of material brewing. "Brewing" sounds pretty creepy more often than not.

I exercised yesterday morning before work, but I was pretty unsuccessful this morning. I did go up to the fitness center, but I just couldn't make it through. I was feeling a little off-kilter, and I kept thinking I was going to cramp up. Tomorrow...

Well, I guess I'll call it a night. The next several days are gonna be BUSY!

The Braves won tonight. GO TEAM!

Fra-gee-lay

Hi! It's Tuesday!

It feels like the week is flying by, but I realize it's only Tuesday. I guess I'm allowed to say it's flying by, though, since tomorrow is basically Friday. Woohoo! I loooove shortened workweeks!

Last night we had our annual family Bunco game. Per usual, I did just good enough and just bad enough to keep from winning anything. Shucks! It was fun to see everyone, though. I need to work on my dice-rolling skills.

What else? I'm editing our entire [new] website at work; it's launching in January. Most people would think this was punishment, but I think it's an early present! I felt like I accomplished so much yesterday and then realized I have about 348297329785263 pages to go. I WILL PREVAIL!

I can't believe it's the week of Christmas. Seriously. It seems like just the other day I was backing into a car and yelling about my kidney stones. Ahh, the memories! It's pretty inevitable that I'll have better luck in 2011, although 2010 has been a blast despite its complications.

Well, I guess it's time to head to work and HTML the silly out of some things. Perhaps I'll treat myself to Starbucks. What latte do I want today?! Decisions, decisions.

Have a great one! <3 <3 <3

That's all they really waaaaaaaant

It's Tuuuuueeeeeesday.

Well, I had my eye doctor appointment yesterday and it went pretty well. My prescription was unchanged from last year, so that's good news, even though it doesn't answer any headache questions. I did get scheduled for a visual field exam test and a follow-up appointment with the eye doctor, so we'll see if that provides any answers what-so-ever. Yesterday was really rough headache-wise, so I pretty much had to sleep for the entire afternoon.

I met up with a friend (AP) for dinner yesterday, too. We used to work together at Wolf Camera, so it was fun to catch up.

Today was surprisingly good, though! I got up and noticed my head wasn't hurting, so I went to the gym. I did about 30 minutes on the elliptical, and my head didn't bother me at all. AWESOME! The rest of the day was pretty much pain-free, so I'm knocking on wood here... I did get unusually tired today, so I did some napping.

Anything else? I met MV and her son for lunch at Chick-fil-A, so that was fun. He is almost a year old and is absolutely precious. I'm usually not a baby person, but he makes it easy to make an exception.

I've got kind of a long day tomorrow, so I better get a good night's sleep to make it through the day. I can't wait to sleep!!!

Upside down

I guess it's officially Tuesday. Booooo! I mean, I have no problem with Monday being over, but I wish it was about an hour earlier so I could get enough sleep tonight. Oh well! I'm over it.

Sunday was a good day. I slept in pretty late - almost until 11:00 a.m. It felt GOOD. I headed to the pool for a bit and it was literally unbearably hot. It caught me off-guard. It was almost impossible to sit there. I read a little bit and spent the rest of the time people-watching.

The Braves then DESTROYED the Cubs 16-5. It felt so good.

I then headed down to an improv workshop at the theatre. We worked with someone named Chelsea from Upright Citizens Brigade. While UCB does longform improv and we do not, it made me think about some things differently. The three hours passed by really quickly, but I had fun. It was neat to hear a different perspective on improv.

Monday was a good day! I don't like saying "Monday" because it still feels like it's Monday. Anyway, I hoped to work out before work, but I simply couldn't make myself get up. I headed to work and had some meetings. The Willy's group went on Monday instead of Tuesday, so that was a fun start to the week. I ended up leaving work a bit early so I could...............drumroll...............

get bloodwork done! When they drew (THAT'S ME!) blood for the study last week, one of my levels came back pretty low, so they needed to retest it. I should find out on Wednesday (hopefully) whether or not it is back to normal. If it isn't, I'm pretty sure I have to temporarily discontinue the drug.

I also got my official diet recommendations regarding this oxalate thing, and basically the list of restrictions is a mile long. The saddest part I read today was that I am not supposed to eat pretzels. That was surprising.

I worked out after work and hope to go in the morning if I can get some solid sleep. We had 9:00 p.m. rehearsal tonight, which explains why I'm up so late. We spent the time talking about strengths/weaknesses/goals, so I've done a lot of self-reflection today.

Looking forward to a new day... <3

One last thing! Today I checked my mail and got summoned for JURY DUTY! I am way excited. I'm in a standby group, so I am super-hopeful that we have to go. Then, after that, I hope I get selected to be on the jury. I love learning how things work.

Bump in the road

Today was a pretty good day, all things considered. I think I'm getting pretty desensitized to life's shenanigans.

I received an email at work from a colleague who was doing a fundraiser, so I went to double-check the balance in my online account before I made a donation. When I logged into my account, I noticed a lot of money was missing. It turns out some rotten fool has apparently stolen my card number and was spending my money in Conyers. I put an end to that nonsense ASAP, and hope that all of yesterday's charges (and today's declined ones, SUCKER) land that clown in jail. I truly have no sympathy for anyone who does anything like that. I almost feel like I shouldn't even be talking about it - like it's off-limits or something - but I do hope the investigation lands someone in a lot of trouble. One mo' thing to take care of. Less money, mo' problems.

I had sushi for lunch today, and it was OH. SO. GOOD.

My bloodwork was such a breeze today! It literally took all of ten minutes from sign-in to completion. I wrote my name down. I gave a urine sample. I got stuck with a needle. Lots of blood filled up lots of tubes. I got my jar to collect urine at home. I walked out. DONE! I'm not sure when I'll hear results, but I guess the endocrinologist should receive the results from the lab once they've done whatever they need to do.

What else? I came home and chilled out a little bit before rehearsal. I went to the gym and got in a solid workout. Even though I felt really lethargic, I forced myself to exercise and I'm glad I did; I felt much more energized afterwards. We had late rehearsal tonight, so I only got to watch about 25 minutes of the Bachelorette before I headed to the theatre.

I watched the rest when I got home, and tonight's episode was remarkably uneventful... probably because I was too busy judging Frank and comparing him to people I know in my day-to-day life. Anyway, she has two good guys left and I like them for different reasons. If I was looking for a husband, I'd totally go with Chris. Kinda dorky, I know. Judge your little heart out.

Tomorrow equals Tuesday.

Gooooo Bravooooooooos

Well, I was really sad to miss the Braves home opener today. It's the first time I've missed in several years. I missed for a few reasons - 1) Since I was home from work last week, I didn't want to take another day off, 2) I had improv, and 3) The pollen is ridiculous. The Braves beat the Cubs 16 to 5, so it would have been a fun game to see. Oh well... I know I'll get to one sooner than later!

Today was a rough day. As I mentioned last night, it had been a while since I'd been in the office, and it was tough to be back. I didn't sleep well last night, so I was already a little perturbed. Then the day didn't improve a whole lot from there. Moodwise, at least. I was in a bit of a funk all day, but I surprisingly felt better when I walked into the theatre. I was worried I wouldn't be able to shake it, but I did; I didn't even think one time about how bad my day had been.

I think part of that is because, as I was walking into the theatre, one of my friends gave me a $250 donation from his dad! That made me smile BIG TIME! Then, when I was getting out of improv, I looked at my phone and my mom had texted me to tell me about a $500 donation from my old boss. All in all, today was an awesome fundraising day, with a total of $850 raised! Now Drew's Crew's online total is $7662! SOOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED!

What else? I got over to the Emory area a little early today, so I stopped by Kroger and got some granola bars and cashews. I ate a granola bar for breakfast. Is anyone in particular who is reading this proud of me for eating breakfast????????????????? I had steak nachos for lunch at Willy's, which was a ray of sunshine on this bleak Monday.

Oh yeah, I ended up not working out today. I think I have a really good explanation, though. It took me a long time to get to sleep, so it was really hard to get up this morning. I decided to sleep in a little later and use my exercise hour at work today to hop on the elliptical before improv. However, the AC was broken at work today, so my office was 83 degrees, with some neighboring offices getting up to 87. That being said, the exercise room was like a sauna and it wouldn't fare well with my heading-straight-to-improv-after-a-sink-shower plan that I was hoping to accomplish. So, I'm getting up and doing it tomorrow. No excuses. Man, it's already late. I better get on this sleeping thing!

Cheers to a better Tuesday!

Change=on the horizon

Woooooooooooooooo! It's Tuesday!

Well, I am not very excited to be awake and getting ready for work, for no other reason than I'm tired as all get out. I had a difficult time sleeping last night, and laid down for bed late after a late rehearsal anyway. I got maybe six hours of sleep, but they weren't uninterrupted. And I did have a dream involving some female friends trying to kill each other with their bare hands, one stabbing people with needles with an unknown liquid in the syringe. YAY! Things must be all warm and fuzzy inside for me!

I had a ton of fun on Sunday. I got to catch up with two people I hadn't seen in a long time - one being a close friend from childhood, and the other being a friend I knew from a previous workplace. It was a lot of fun just chatting about life (little life and big life) and enjoying some delicious food. Ahhh, if only every day could be spent yapping with good people!

Yesterday was pretty good for a Monday! I mean, I don't remember much about it, so that had to have been good. I'm still hoarse, but I'm not in pain in any way. I don't know yet if these antibiotics are working. They've been upsetting my stomach a bit, but well-tolerated overall. It's about time I pop one of those suckers off.

Rehearsal was... different. I practiced dialects for the first time, which was quite the experience. I think it helped that I was pretty tired before I arrived because I think that lowered my inhibitions and acknowledgement of the discomfort I probably felt. Anyway, it was a pretty good exercise and it was a big step for me considering it's not something that has ever made me excited.

Well, I'm gonna hurry to get ready so I can treat myself to Starbucks. I'm bummed because I have a late meeting at work today, so I didn't get to do my usual early Tuesday. Maybe it's a blessing since I didn't sleep well, but it'd be nice to get home before 7-something. That'll all be irrelevant when I get my hands on that Dark Cherry Mocha!

Have a swell day.

Smile all day

WELL WELL WELL!! It is Tuesday and the week is almost over! Or so it feels!

Yesterday was an enjoyable day off in which I, once again, accomplished NOTHING. I slept in pretty late and sat around for a while. I got a shower... I then went and ate a late lunch of Mexican food at Pure Taqueria. I also had two peach mojitos, which were pretty enjoyable.

I had improv last night and just wasn't feeling it altogether. I honestly think it had to do with having such an unproductive weekend. I hadn't really had to be 'on' at all during the weekend, so it was hard to kick it into 'focus' last night when I got to the theatre. Oh well... I bet tomorrow I'll be feeling it again.

Today I got up and went into work really early. There was a lot I wanted to accomplish and I hoped to have most of it knocked out before I went into hour after hour of meeting. I stopped at Starbucks on the way to the office and got a vanilla latte. I got to work a little after 7:00 a.m. and was able to knock out a lot before my first meeting at 9:00 a.m. From that point forward, I was away from my desk until close to 12:40 p.m., which makes for a hectic day. I actually wasn't feeling all the well, combined with starving, and headed home a little before 2:00 p.m. to eat lunch and telecommute for the remainder of the day. It was a pretty good workday, especially compared to last week's roller coaster.

After I was done working, I went to the fitness center and walked a while as I read a book. I wanted to run some, but even the limited arm movement in walking was aggravating my SC joint. Sooo.. I took it easy. That reminds me, I should be hearing from the doctor pretty soon about moving forward with the ultrasound.

Anything else interesting going on? I'm getting pretty pumped about my show on Thursday! Each day I learn of a few more people that can hopefully come, so I'm crossing my fingers for a pretty full house! I'm also glad that the weather forecast isn't placing any potential cancellation threats on the show!

Oh, and one last thing... The highlight of my day. I have a column in a CF newsletter, right? Well, today, I got a post on my Facebook page saying, "We got a donation today in your honor! The message said, 'Drew is obviously a talented writer and the column in Reaching Out is a worthwhile contribution to the newsletter.'" That pretty much made me smile all day!

MOST BEST

Tueeeeeeesday.

Today was a successful day of.....relaxation. I worked from home again today, allowing me extra sleep plus the relief of not commuting for an hour and fifteen minutes. It sure makes the days seem longer and less hectic. And I can work in whatever clothing I choose...

I'm pretty excited right now because I am watching the Braves win. They just scored again. Now I'm simultaneously rooting for the Cubs so that Philly will lose. I promoted my two Braves-jersey-wearing stuffed animals to the bed tonight. I'm pretty sure that's what the team needs right now. Sadly I'm pretty superstitious when it comes to baseball, which is why I used to sleep hugging my foam tomahawk as a child when we were in the playoffs.

Do I have anything exciting to say? Tomorrow I think I'll hit up Starbeezy on the way to work. It's just a fun thing to anticipate in the mornings.

Ooh, Saturday I am rafting down the Chattahoochee, so that should be awesome! I had so much fun last year and I've been looking forward to its sequel. Mwahaha! I hope I don't get eaten by an alligator and, if I do, that would be a courageous way to go down.

Well, bedtime for me. Good night, Braves. Sleep horribly, Phillies.

Tuuuuesday

So, I went to the library on Saturday and had a great time. I got five new books and have already finished two of them. I got a book by Ellen DeGeneres, one by Steve Martin, two books of essays and a book called Torture the Artist that a friend recommended. So far I've read the Ellen book and one book of essays and enjoyed both. I was so excited when I was leaving the library. I wanted to clone myself several times so one of me could start reading each of the books. That's probably one of the least dorky thoughts that's ever crossed my mind.

Yesterday I worked from home for half of the day and then had a doctor's appointment. They 'medicated' me once I got there and I was really expecting it to be a somewhat enjoyable experience. I got Xanaxed, but it really didn't seem to be doing what it should be. If it did, I probably wouldn't have yelled a profanity at the top of my lungs during the appointment. It sucked pretty badly, but I took a nap when I got home, went to improv, and then started drinking beer.

I go to physical therapy again tonight, so we'll see how that goes. My rib(?) is feeling so much better than it was last week. I hope I get to bask in the heating pad again; that was fun! Wooohooo! It hasn't ached all day...knock on wood.

Anyways, what an exciting Tuesday. Gotta love it!
