And I gladly stand up

Hello America! Happy 4th of July!

Well, I've had a lot of fun lately! I'll give you some highlights...
  • Braves game: I went to a Braves game last Thursday, June 28. Despite the Braves' loss (bringing my season record to 1-2), I had a good time. Woohoo!
  • Jerry Seinfeld: I saw a Jerry Seinfeld stand-up show! It was absolutely hysterical! I don't think I truly realized how hilarious he is until I was at that show. I am still laughing about some of the jokes. I know stand-up folks say this about improv folks, but I can't even imagine how difficult it must be to do stand-up.
  • Tim McGraw/Kenny Chesney: I actually feel like I've posted since I went to this concert, but I don't remember mentioning it. If I already mentioned it, deal with it. It was on a Sunday night, so that was slightly lame, but it was so much fun! After much debate, I think I prefer Tim's music to Kenny's. I know -- that was bold!
Aside from those big highlights, several other things have happened:
  • I discovered a nail in my tire, so I look forward to fixing that.
  • The saga of my floor continues. Yes, the floor that flooded in May of 2011. The new floor is buckling at strange places, and I hope to get it fixed within the next few weeks, although it might involve redoing the entire floor. YESSSSSSS!
  • I got some new running shoes! LOVE THEM! (Thank you, Mom!)
  • I had a doctor's appointment -- same ol', same ol'. Not wonderful, but not bad.
Well, I guess I better stop running my mouth so I can get ready for a POOL PARTY!

Sleepy sloth

I am pretty stinkin' tired right now, but sometimes that's when I write the most entertaining things. Not that I just promised this would be entertaining by any means...

Today was a pretty good day; in fact, the workday flew by. I got to work at about 7:00 a.m. and it was almost 9:00 a.m. before anyone else arrived. That's nice because it gives me a chance to crack down in the mornings and knock some things out before I start getting distracted. I accomplished so much in the first two hours of the day. I also listened to some good music on Pandora - I started with Kenny Chesney and then ended up listening to The Juliana Theory.

I had a meeting from about 10:00 a.m. to noon, so that was a significant chunk of the day. After the meeting, I knocked a few things out before I arbitrarily journeyed to Kroger during lunchtime.

I got the following items at Kroger: a caesar salad with bacon, a box of Cheez-Its, and a bag of Sour Slices. The salad was a poor decision on my part; I rarely even enjoy eating salad - so much work with no reward. I wanted something quick and was too lazy to wait at the deli. The Cheez-Its are always a win, so that's a no-brainer. The Sour Slices are interesting. You know those orange slices that are basically like gum drops? Well, Sour Slices look the same, but have a kick to them. They're pretty exciting, I guess.

After work, my uncle came over and I helped him write a cover letter for a position he found online. I worked on that until my brain almost fell out, and then we went out to eat...you guessed it...Mexican! The Mexican food made up for that horrendous salad that I bought on a whim. I still don't even know what must have come over me in that moment of weakness.

Now I am dozing off as I type this, thinking about how I will speak at a CF Foundation event after work tomorrow. I'll probably figure out what I want to say when I'm killing time between work and the event. You know what they say... I'll stop procrastinating starting tomorrow.

A hot mess

I just got a headache. Perhaps some Jell-O will help.

Well, I met my brother's dog, Turk, today. He was so cute and calm! I can't wait to be responsible enough to have a dog. I would neglect the nonsense out of that thing. I'd need a different lifestyle and home before I could have a dog, but I'm happy to be an aunt to Turk. Dogs are so much fun, but I'm not interested in full- or part-time custody...

I had no idea that they made Pina Colada flavored Jell-O until I fixed it yesterday. It was a little frightening because I've never seen a murky Jell-O, but looks sure can be deceiving. I had some of it a few hours ago and it was absolutely INCREDIBLE!

I need to write my column for the CF newsletter. I always wait until the last minute. I bet it will end up being spectacular, though. I have about eight million topics that will fit, but I'm always hesitant because the audience is comprised of such a variety of people.

My new favorite jam is "I'm Alive" by Kenny Chesney and Dave Mathews. It almost gives me chills. Maybe I'll listen to it now...

Life is good. Fingers crossed for the doctor tomorrow!
