I just saw the coolest clock ever. All of the numbers are randomly piled in the bottom corner, but the hands are still on a time -- just without numbers. On the face of the clock, it says "Whatever!" I love it! It literally made me laugh out loud.
Onto other things... I went to the Braves game last night and got a Dan Uggla bobblehead. It is awesome! It doesn't exactly look like him, but it's still cool. The Braves won a good game off of a solo HR by Chipper Jones. I don't make many predictions in baseball, but right when he came up to bat, I said, "I feel like he's about to get a solo homerun." Two pitches later, he knocked one out of the park, scoring the only run of the game. GO BRAVES!
I've had a pretty productive week between cleaning, going to the doctor, exercising, etc. It's amazing how much you can accomplish when you're not working! I feel like I would get a lot more done if keeping up with myself was a full-time job. :-) Do I usually use emoticons in blogs? Oh wait, I haven't been blogging regularly enough to know the answer to that.
I just ate some pancakes and bacon and it's 12:40 p.m. Yeah, you know it!
I really want to publish this post so I can take the "W" key off of my keyboard to see what's making it difficult to press.
Lately I've been really happy. Busy, but happy. I worked really hard over these past few weeks to leave Emory in the best shape possible. Although it was a lot of work, I feel good about it.
Well, I hope life is treating everyone well. A friend from CF camp, Megan, died this week, so she's learning what it's like to breathe easy. It's just a reminder that life is precious and that there is plenty to appreciate.
Love to all!

That's heavy
Today I had one of those moments when I looked at the calendar and wondered where the last several months have gone. Although this year has had its share of inconveniences, there's a lot that makes me happy, too.
I really want to rant about the things that are stressing me out, but instead I'll list some things that made me smile today:
-Drew's Crew is going to hit the $30K fundraising mark by Saturday's event, and I'm absolutely amazed. I'm less than $500 shy of my personal goal, so if you'd like to contribute, click here.
-I ate Willy's today and they fixed my order without me uttering a word.
-I ran 3+ miles today, and it was a breeze.
-Hines Ward is still on Dancing with the Stars.
-The Braves came from behind to win in extra innings thanks to two home runs by Brian McCann.
It's probably best that I go to sleep. Sleep well, world!

Hi, 2011.
I feel like the appropriate thing to do would be to write some sort of commemorative blog about my year in review or something along those lines. However, "appropriate" really isn't my style, so I'm just going to go for a more stream-of-consciousness approach.
AM and I had a fun weekend! We ended up going out with some friends on New Year's Eve, but didn't do anything extravagant. We kept it low-key at a local bar and had fun. We spent most of New Year's Day trying to decide what to eat, which resulted in a quick (after four hours of deliberating) run to a local Chinese takeout place. Throughout this sweet and sour journey, the paparazzi photographed me trying to find a menu I'd thrown away.

Desperate times call for desperate measures. Clearly.
Oh! Saturday night I performed in an improv show - 1/1/11! I had a blast and played Sit Stand Lean Oscar, ABC Buzzer Holiday Story, Emo Interview (straight), and Remote Control Styles. The audience was great and the cast was a lot of fun. Hooray to kicking off the new year with improv!
I'm in denial about the fact that I'm about to go into the office. You know I LOVE returning to work after an abnormal holiday schedule.
So, I've set some resolutions for myself, but they're relatively simple. I'm mainly working on developing some better habits, which will hopefully be facilitated by my Habit Streak app. Yes, I have become that phone person. Anyway, I'm trying to develop better habits as far as exercising, writing, lung health, organization, and overall well-being, so we'll see how it all shakes out. I like the feeling of a new year; it gives me a sense of freedom even though it's really no different than the week before. What gives?!
Happy 2011! Let's make it a swell one!

breathe easy
GUESS WHAT?!?!?!
Today I had the highest PFTs I've had since March of 2007. I am seriously in shock! It's not that I've been feeling bad or anything, but I didn't even know that it was possible! The doctor kept asking me what I thought caused the increase, but I have no idea. It's probably a combination of the hospital, the sinus surgery, the time off work, etc. Either way, I'm not complaining! Now I feel like trying to push the limit even more. I don't go back to the doctor for three months (ahh, it's like music to my ears), so we'll see what I can whip up by March!
Then I went to my (protein) study appointment and that went pretty well, I guess. It took four attempts to get blood, but is this surprising to anyone? Nope? Nobody? Me either.
What else? I'm about to go to sleep. I know it's early, but I'm really tired. Oh, that reminds me that I also told the doctor that the additional sleep was probably helping me healthwise. I need to do my noseroid. Speaking of 'roids, I'm getting a Cortisone injection in my SC joint at the end of the month. What a walking disaster!
I didn't get to eat Willy's today because I was slammed at work. The good news is that I knocked out EVERYTHING I needed to finish today before I headed to the doctor.
Mmm, bedtime.

Loving the view from cloud 9
Oh man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Braves just made me so proud! When we were down 4-1 going into the 7th, I've got to admit I was getting a little concerned. Then, WAM BAM, THANK YOU MA'AM to tie it up in the 8th. It took 11 innings, but the Braves and Giants are now tied 1-1 in the 5-game series. Whew! I wish I could articulate how excited I am right now. It's funny because I'm so wound up that I don't even feel tired! It's so similar (yet different) from last night.
So, the Braves lost a very uneventful 1-0 game last night (Thursday...it's Friday in my mind right now). I mean, I think there were seven total hits between both teams and it was basically a pitchers' duel, although Lincecomb definitely outpitched Lowe. Anyway, I was just perturbed because of the umpire's botched call that kept a runner on base -- that particular runner being the only player who scored in the entire game. I literally was up in the night having a conniption fit over it. When I woke up this morning, it was the first thing that crossed my mind. Now, though, that junk is chump change. CHUMP CHANGE! AHH!
SUNDAY CAN'T COME SOON ENOUGH! I am exerting so much energy right now.
Well, yesterday (Thursday) was a really great day, despite the game. I received a comment on my blog that made my entire day, if not my whole week. It's incredible that something simple can make a big difference to someone. I find myself feeling so inspired this week. It's odd to imagine the 'woe is me' person I was on Monday when I feel so invincible now.
This morning I saw my cousin (BH) before her appointment with the CF doctor. We went to IHOP and I had a really great breakfast. PANCAKES! I was feeling so appreciative that I left a gigantic tip. Now, I know it's not really generosity if you feel like you need attention for it, but I am trying to illustrate that happiness/positivity really does have a snowball effect.
What else? My sinuses are causing pain in places I've never had it before, such as directly behind my eyeballs and in my cheekbones. I can truly say that I am looking forward to my surgery. RELIEF IS ON THE WAY!
Gosh, I need to chill out. It is 2:00 a.m. I'm going to try to get to sleep, I guess. Tomorrow's gonna be an alarm-free day. Oh, and I think I'll exercise.
LET'S! GO! BRAVES!

How things change again...
I am in totaaaaaaaally different spirits than I was on Monday, so get excited, y'all!
First, to give you an update, the rodent has been eRATicated. Last night when I got home from work I noticed a fly. Now, I remember doing a double-take, thinking that I'd never seen a fly in my house in two years. The fly was dying on the floor, so I went to the library and to Publix. Well, that's not why I went those places, but anyway... After my errands, I walked back in and saw a few more flies buzz by. At this point, with my malfunctioning nose, I decided (in my mind) that I smelled something. My roommate was not here to borrow her sense of smell, so I called my uncle. He came over, looked under the dishwasher (where I'd convinced myself the smell was), and said, "Your suspicions are confirmed." He then extracted the carcass. THIS IS A RAT-FREE ENVIRONMENT. Ugh, the weight of the dead rat in a grocery bag made me nauseous.
Speaking of nauseous, the Phillies pitched a no-hitter tonight. I'm hopeful that they've now blown their wad too early and will completely flop. Rather than smack-talking, I should probably just say that I'm way excited to watch the Braves tomorrow. My boss has even given me permission to wear Braves attire to work, so it's gonna be a great day! GO TEAM!
I've totally digested and accepted the hospital news, so that's just chump change to me at this point. Do y'all know what chump change is? I've always used that saying, especially with my family. I Googled it and there were results, so I guess I'm not crazy.
I know I sound totally soapboxish, but it's amazing what can happen when you spend your time on positive things. I had a related email conversation with a friend (SW) today, and it really is incredible the difference it can make. :-)

TOMAHAWK CHIZZZOP!
I am in such a great mood today. I'm really not even sure why, but I feel awesome. I mean, physically my face is aching because my sinuses are my worst enemy. But mentally? I feel spectacular!
I just got home from Starbucks. If you need a decaffeinated option at Starbucks, I highly recommend the Spiced Apple Cider. I can't remember if that's the name of it, but it is AMAZING! I chatted with my friend (MV) and it made me think about a lot of life-related things, which often gets me energized. Woooohoooo!
Today I went to Willy's, which is par for the course on Tuesdays. I don't think I've ever used that saying, but it felt good. Anyway, my steak nachos were off the chain. I don't think they could have been any more incredible than they were. True story.
THE BRAVES ARE ONE STRIKE AWAY FROM WINNING!
Umm, last night was way enjoyable. I read some, I watched TV, I took some naps, and the night dragged on forever. I ended up falling asleep pretty early, and woke up to a pleasant extra-innings win for the Braves. Come on, boys!
THE BRAVES WON! (Right now.) While the Phillies clinched the NL East last night, the Braves are in the running for the Wild Card. I have a GOOD feeling about it! Now I just need the Cubs to beat the Padres tonight.
I'm pretty sure I'll stop talking right now. It would be the first time I've done that all day.

Listen to me complain
Whining Wanda here.... Today was NOT a good day.
I got up early to go to the gym. I figured that, since I wasn't feeling too great yesterday, maybe a morning workout would help get my body back into gear. Well, to my surprise, I actually went to the gym and worked out for about 25 minutes. I read one of my library books while I took it easy on the elliptical.
Then I got ready for work and, by the time I got to work, I wasn't feeling very well at all. For some reason my hoarseness turned into a cough, and I spent much of the day coughing. It was extremely obnoxious. I ended up having to leave work at about 3:00 p.m. because I just couldn't seem to get it together. I kept feeling like I had a fever, but the thermometer said I didn't. I just keep breaking out into hot spells. Typically I'm not a thermometer person, but I've checked it a handful of times today. I actually hit 99 on the most recent one, which is high for me because I usually hang out in the 97s.
Anyway, I got a salad from Chipotle for lunch. It was sooo good! I remember we used to have Chipotle pretty frequently at my first job. I didn't have much of an appetite so I figured I'd grab something light. Good choice, me!
What else happened today? Umm, I dunno. Even though I feel down and out, I'm happy.
We don't have a show this week, so I was glad I didn't have to miss rehearsal tonight. Free night on Thursday, too. Cool!

Put on my new suede boots and I boarded the train
So, I thought of that title earlier today and totally forgot about belting it out at a bar the weekend before last. Man, that was kinda fun, but that moment is over. Moving forward... onwards and upwards.
I went to Marshalls today for my telecommuting lunch break and got some super-cute suede boots. They are flat and gray, and I make them look good. I also got a pair of gray shorts. I don't envision myself ever wearing those items simultaneously. The boots were only $29, but I found online that the actual retail price is........ TWO-HUNDRED AND TWENTY DOLLLLLARS. Can we say 'bargaining baller'?
WAY TO SCREW UP, BRAVES. Sorry. Forgive me for that anger. They're in the 12th inning, which is annoying in and of itself, but geez louis.* Get it together. High five on giving up two runs. NOT.
I sound entirely too hyper for it to be after 11:00 p.m., huh? I'm just in a really good mood. I woke up feeling awful (like really sick) today and, although my physical health is not my strength these days, I feel really great mentally. I need to recuperate this weekend.
Mmm, I better get to bed. I have to take my JUG O' URINE to the lab in the morning before our going-away pancake breakfast with the old boss. I guess I made it a pancake breakfast in my head, but it's not technically a pancake breakfast. I'm also going out to lunch tomorrow. I'm excited!
I exercised like a champ today, which makes me happy because I think it will help me feel better.
*I spell "geez louis" the way I pronounce it, which is like the way the city St. Louis is pronounced. I know that's not the phrase, but I pronounce it that way because I think it's better like that. It also originated from someone at one of my sister's former jobs who seriously said it that way.

Happiest girl in the WHOLE WORLD
I know that the title is cheesy, but I am so happy with tonight's event. I mean, holy mackerel. I am still in awe at the support and love that filled that room. Honestly I'm not sure of totals since there are multiple moving parts, but I think the show raised a grand total of about $2,500. Within minutes of the show starting, all of the hard work and stress was well worth it.
Although words cannot express my appreciation, I want to say thank you here to everyone who made tonight possible - whether it be Whole World folks, actors, ticket-holders, etc. Even though a mass thank you seems kind of lame and impersonal, I am truly thankful for every person in that place tonight, and every person who supported from afar. I have never really organized something of the sort on my own, and it was so beautiful to see it all come to fruition.
Because it's tradition, tonight I played Emo Interview, Buzzer Debate, and Oscar Musical. The show was just incredible, but I may be biased. Everyone was so high-energy and hilarious! I know I've probably never sounded this optimistic in all of my time blogging, but GOOD GRIEF, I mean every word of it!
In other news... Well, there's no other news. I have a one-track mind of rainbows and butterflies right now. I am so happy. Let's cure cystic fibrosis.

Vat o' queso
Guess who's all willy nilly right now... ME! That was a pun, but you don't know it yet. I had steak nachos from Willy's today for lunch. Tonight we had a work call at the theatre. When we finished working, we were treated to a nacho bar from Willy's. After all was said and done, there was a bunch of stuff left over. Most of the people were gone before we realized how much extra food there was, so people got sent home with stuff. I ended up with a big ol' vat o' queso. I must say I'm pretty excited about it; you can never have too much cheese.
Before I forget to give them their proper recognition, the Braves SEALED THE DEAL last night. I was very, very tired and we entered the ninth inning down 3 to 0. The first batter in the ninth automatically got an out, so I was feeling pretty discouraged. I was tired and thought it would be better for me to check the score in the morning than stay up for the last two outs. So, I turned the game off and started trying to sleep. Within minutes, though, I had text messages from my mom and brother. With two outs, the Braves got a two-run homer (Glaus) followed by a solo homer by Heyward. At this point I had the TV on the see the start ofthe tenth inning. After an easy top of the inning, the first battler in the bottom of the tenth (McLouth) got a walk-off home run. It was so awesome! It made me proud. Then they went and lost tonight, but whatever. Go Braves!
I am getting really excited about the benefit show. I plan to unveil the details by Monday, I hope. I'm ready to start selling tickets and seeing that total rise! So many people have offered to volunteer their time and energy, and I just know it's going to be awesome and fun for everyone involved. And, of course, it helps a cause that means so much to me. I am thankful for everyone.
Speaking of, today was AWESOME for Drew's Crew! One of the walkers made BANK today, raising over $500. Some checks got posted as well, so the total of everything posted at this exact moment in time is $11,630. That is only about $50 less than what Drew's Crew raised ALL of last year, and we still have 23 days to go. MAN! I AM SO ENERGIZED! We are going to blow our old selves out of the water!
WHAT ELSE?! Tomorrow I have my study appointment. Yeehaw! I am going into work at the regular time and then will head out a few minutes before 1:00 p.m. The appointment should take about four or five hours. Then, tomorrow night, the Improv Studies Program is performing a show, so I'm going to go check that out. I'm looking forward to seeing them perform!
I'm just feeling really happy. Life is great!
