Y'all wanna see my bruise???

How redneck is that title?! Anyway, the nurse came by to change my PICC line dressing, and look at that craziness! Perhaps if the nurses saw this, they would understand why I said I was in pain. I am honestly fascinated by this bruise... Let me take another moment of silence to reflect on it.

Today was a really great day. I got up to do my early IV, and then I went back to sleep for a few more hours. I got up and did my breathing treatments, and then my brother and Turk arrived here. We watched Major League, which I really enjoyed. About halfway through the movie, the nurse came by, so it held things up a bit. I really loved the company, and the movie was funny, too! Kevin brought me several movies, so I'll probably watch another one tomorrow.

After the boys left, I decided to go for a walk. It was way too nice to walk on the treadmill, so I walked around in my complex for a while. On my walk, my friend (JM) texted when I was right outside her condo, so we visited for a while. After my walk, my uncle came by with Coldstone (raspberry sorbet with gummy bears). Then the roomie and I hung out for a bit, so I had a great day. Plus, I think the Yankees are about to lose!

Well, I guess I'm about to sign off for the night. I'm going to write for a little while before I go to sleep. Good night, world!

Vrooooom. Vroooooom.

First and foremost, sorry for the delay. I don't actually think that people care that much, but I do realize that this is how most people have been keeping up with the hospitalization/surgery, so I figured I ought to break the silence.

Well, I got out of the hospital on Friday at around noon. I was having mixed feelings about it, as I usually do when I'm leaving the hospital. I don't exactly know what causes me to feel like I'm on an emotional roller coaster when I'm hospitalized. In a way, the hospital setting is relieving because you get a free pass to feel however you want to feel. At the same time, though, I've noticed that the hospital breeds pity parties, which isn't something that interests me. Anyway, I said all of that to say that the last few days have carried with them many ups and downs - fluctuations that seemed acceptable in the hospital, but are a little harder to carry back into real life.

When we left the hospital, my mom and I went to a few different pharmacies trying to get a handle on the prescriptions that I needed. By the time we got home, I was wiped out and took a nap while my amazing mom went to the grocery store to get me some things. My IV medications got delivered Friday evening and the nurse came by to make sure I had everything under control. I wasn't quite feeling up to being alone, so my mom spent the night with me. We slept on the couches and I was very thankful to have her company.

I sat around a lot on Saturday. We got up and my mom headed back to her house. I took my plethora of medications. Then I sat outside writing for a little bit. I was in a very 'deep' mood, and that has continued into today. Then I took another nap (I'm good at that lately) and my mom came back and took me to my parents' house. It was good to spend one more night with company. My mom and I made a quick stop by my grandmother's house on the way here this afternoon.

I had some visitors today. Two friends from the theatre stopped by (LG and EG), and it was good to talk creative with them. We talked about creative endeavors, but we also talked about life, so I was in hog heaven. PLUS, they brought me some queso from Willy's. AWESOME! Anyway, I really enjoyed their company; it got my creative juices flowing. Another friend (JM) also stopped by for a bit, and I continued my philosophical discussions with her. It's days like today when I remember how fortunate I am to know such caring people.

Tomorrow will be my first would-be-workday at home. I think my brother plans to come by WITH HIS DOG!, so that will be fun. I'm hoping this post-hospital funk has almost passed.

Gooooooooooo Jackets!

I am sitting here with my brother's dog, Turk. We are watching Georgia Tech play Virginia Tech. Gooooooooooooo Jackets! GT is winning 21-10 in the third quarter. I am happy. I think Turk is happy, too, even though he appears to be asleep.

Well, I had fun last night at the improv show. I got home around midnight and fell asleep shortly after. Believe it or not, I slept until about 11:15 a.m. That is the longest I have slept in I'm not sure how long. It felt good, and it's amazing to me that I could sleep that long without needing to get up and use the restroom or anything. I still feel like I'm either fighting a cold or allergies of some kind.

I got up and went to the fitness center, where I exercised for a while. I didn't run since my first rib has been bothering me, but I walked on an incline for 45 minutes and then did 15 minutes on the StairMaster. While I exercised, I began reading a book called Self Storage, which is pretty good and intriguing so far.

Other than that, I haven't been very productive today. Me and Turk took a few naps on the couch and went outside a few times. He is being such a good little boy. Gosh, he is so cute next to me, breathing and what not. He has a green argyle collar and it makes him look so handsome. Turk is a very attractive dog. I'm pretty sure he has a crush on me.

It has gotten cold in Hotlanta. I believe we have a freeze warning tomorrow night. It's nice because it's keeping my house so much cooler. I'm too much of a cheapskate to run the AC very much, so I love when it's a temperature that doesn't require AC or heat. I was actually kind of cool when I was sleeping last night. That hasn't happened since.... well, the winter.

I am rambling because it's time to EAT.

No shoes, no shirt, no problem

I have been such a blogging failure lately, but the last several weeks have been so busy. From Homecoming to Michigan to the longest work week ever, I am drained! I have taken more naps this week than I had in the last couple months.

I'm about to head downtown to meet improv folks for dinner before going to the show. This is officially our last weekend as students, so I suggested we do some last-minute bonding. Well, not so much bonding, but a good excuse to have one last hurrah before we finish on Tuesday. I am pretty excited, but I wish I could just teleport down there. I'm already going to be late, I think.

Well, I went to the physical therapist for my rib yesterday and have had a good rib day. I just moved in an awkward way that bothered it for the first time all day. The therapist thought that my right first rib still has slight anterior displacement, while the left first rib now has some slight posterior displacement. It's hard not to chuckle when I think about how I'm still in pain from throwing bean bags seven months ago. Pathetic.

I am now working from home on Fridays. The whole Thursday thing wasn't working out with all of the meetings and events that were getting scheduled on Thursdays. I'm usually beat by Fridays anyway, so it's nice to be able to sit around looking gross.

I guess I better figure out what the weather's doing and put on something to wear to the show. Woooohoooooooo!

Tomorrow I am dogsitting for Turk! I am excited! We are gonna be BFF!

A hot mess

I just got a headache. Perhaps some Jell-O will help.

Well, I met my brother's dog, Turk, today. He was so cute and calm! I can't wait to be responsible enough to have a dog. I would neglect the nonsense out of that thing. I'd need a different lifestyle and home before I could have a dog, but I'm happy to be an aunt to Turk. Dogs are so much fun, but I'm not interested in full- or part-time custody...

I had no idea that they made Pina Colada flavored Jell-O until I fixed it yesterday. It was a little frightening because I've never seen a murky Jell-O, but looks sure can be deceiving. I had some of it a few hours ago and it was absolutely INCREDIBLE!

I need to write my column for the CF newsletter. I always wait until the last minute. I bet it will end up being spectacular, though. I have about eight million topics that will fit, but I'm always hesitant because the audience is comprised of such a variety of people.

My new favorite jam is "I'm Alive" by Kenny Chesney and Dave Mathews. It almost gives me chills. Maybe I'll listen to it now...

Life is good. Fingers crossed for the doctor tomorrow!
